Downtown San Juan Capistrano is located 2.5 miles from the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park. The streets are lined with sidewalk cafés like the Sundried Tomato Café which offers fine California cuisine, specialty boutiques like Chico’s which offers fine women’s clothing, and exquisite art which can be found at The Black Cat Gallery. Most of the Downtown businesses are family owned and operated and sell an array of custom made items that can only be found in San Juan Capistrano. A short walk from the depot is The Mission Promenade shopping center, a historic building, once called the Ferris Kelly Building has been completely remodeled and features an array of specialty boutiques and fine dining. Shopping at larger retails stores such as Marshalls, Ross and Big Lots are also close to downtown San Juan Capistrano.
South Coast Plaza
South Coast Plaza is an easy 30 minute drive north from the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park.This shopping mecca is located in the city of Costa Mesa. It is especially popular with shoppers seeking designer names, upscale boutiques and discount outlets offer everything from clothing, shoes, handbags, luggage, jewelry and glass items to designer foods. Located across the street from the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Plaza shops span several city blocks.
